Now, while the above studies do exhibit a positive correlation between biotin and testosterone, there are a couple of points to note here-
Firstly, both the studies were conducted on animal subjects and further research is required to find out and evaluate its impact on humans. There is no guarantee that biotin will have a similar kind of influence on testosterone in humans.
Secondly, one of the things that can be inferred from the above studies is that, even if biotin has a similar effect on humans, it may only work for those who have a deficiency of this vitamin. In any case, more concrete research and clinical trials are needed to determine the association between biotin and testosterone in humans.
Effects Of Biotin Supplementation
Some of the reports related to biotin and testosterone have indicated that biotin has the potential to delude certain blood test results. With the increase in popularity of this vitamin for its potential benefits, biotin supplementation has become common among many individuals.
However, there are studies and reports which show that the excessive presence of biotin as a result of supplementation can be harmful in different ways. For example, it can interfere with the blood during immunoassay tests in which biotin is used as one of the test components.
Biotin has the ability to link itself with certain molecules or substances because of which it is used in various tests. Supplementary Benefits Of Biotin
While most of the studies about biotin’s benefits on testosterone have been on animals, one of the research findings suggests that biotin can act as a highly sensitive ‘testosterone tracer’ which can be beneficial in measuring the hormone levels in humans. The research evaluated both normal and low testosterone levels in testosterone-treated as well as untreated hypogonadal men. The results reportedly turned out to be impressively accurate.
It should be noted that the test only confirmed its ability to detect testosterone levels more efficiently and rapidly in hypogonadal men which can be useful in deciding the next course of action faster. However, it has no direct contribution to raising testosterone levels.
