The “Fundación para la Investigación del Hospital Clínico de la Comunidad Valenciana” (INCLIVA) is a top biomedical research institute in Spain. It is organised around four priority areas of research: cardiovascular, oncology, metabolism, and organic damage and reproductive medicine. The INCLIVA (www.incliva.es) is included in the framework of centres of scientific excellence promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and is accredited by the National Health Institute Carlos III as an Institute of Research in Health Sciences (only 25 accredited institutions in Spain). The INCLIVA manages the health research of Valencia University, which includes a Department that provides healthcare to 350.000 inhabitants. INCLIVA has participated in FP6 and FP7 research projects funded by the European Commission. Dr. Viña is coordinator of the transversal program on aging at INCLIVA, and has been granted to be partner in three European projects on frailty: FRAILOMIC Intiative, FOD-CC (Frailty operative definition - consensus conference), and ADVANTAGE JA. The main lines of publications are experimental models on frailty, proposal of a new frailty score for experimental animals, and interventions to prevent and even treat frailty by multimodal physical exercise.
