PSDAA is committed to the promotion of equality for older people and disabled persons, to safeguard their right to active inclusion and participation and to live independently in their communities.

The department of Geriatric Medicine is the Clinical and Research arm within the MFSS. This department also works in close collaboration with the University of Malta since the clinicians are actively involved in lecturing and research with this entity.

Clinicians in the Department of Geriatric Medicine cover all spectrums of Geriatric Medicine providing input in acute geriatric medicine, Orthogeriatrics, rehabilitation, long-term geriatrics as well as community geriatrics.

Speciality clinics include; falls, movement disorders, dementia and continence clinics. Geriatricians are also involved in the development of policies and strategies to improve primary prevention services and care for their elderly clients.
