Frailty means increased vulnerability of older people. However, since frailty is not an inevitable consequence of ageing, it can be prevented to foster a longer and healthier life. ADVANTAGE JA will build a common understanding on frailty to be used in all the Member States.
About the Joint Action
ADVANTAGE is the first Joint Action (JA) on the prevention of frailty. It involves 22 Member States (MS) and over 35 organizations and it is co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the MS.
ADVANTAGE will build a common understanding on frailty for MS on which to base a common management approach of older people who are frail or at risk for developing frailty in the EU.
The identification of the core components of frailty and its management should promote the needed changes in the organization and their implementation in the Health and Social Systems to provide those models of care that, stemming from the particular health profile of each MS, will allow them to face the challenge of frailty within a common framework.
